TDS expanding 8 Gig Fiber Network into Lake Hallie, Wisconsin

Registration is now open for residents interested in upgrading to TDS service

TDS Telecommunications LLC (TDS®) is growing its Chippewa Valley footprint to include about 2,700 addresses in the village of Lake Hallie. With construction expected to start later this spring, interested residents and businesses can now register for service at TDSFiber.com. Registrants will receive updates about the progress of the build and when services will be available at their address.

“We heard you, Lake Hallie residents—we’re bringing our super-fast speeds to thousands of locations in your area,” said Senior Vice President of Corporate Affairs Drew Petersen. “We’re excited to get started on this expansion and deliver the reliable and high-quality services local residents and businesses have been waiting for.”

TDS was recently named the Best Internet Service Provider in the Volume One reader poll, a first-time award category. The recognition comes less than three years after the Madison-headquartered company, doing the project as TDS Metrocom, connected its first Chippewa Valley customers to its all-fiber network infrastructure.

Lake Hallie will join a rare group of communities with these state-of-the-art connections. According to a recent Federal Communications Commission report, less than a quarter of the U.S. fixed residential connections have access to fiber-to-the-home technology. With its symmetrical upload and download speeds and up to 8 Gigabit service options, the infrastructure is considered the gold standard and future proof.

“TDS fiber is perfect for anyone looking for an exceptional internet experience,” said Petersen. “Whether you have smart home devices, attend classes online, work remotely, or want the best entertainment experiences, our technology can handle it all.”

Construction is expected to begin in Lake Hallie mid-year. Build activity will include burying conduit and fiber cabling, as well as installing junction boxes. Services will become available gradually, as network sections are completed.

TDS announced its plans to expand to the Chippewa Valley in early 2022. The company finished its Chippewa Falls project last summer; its Eau Claire and Altoona builds are ongoing.
