TDS® breaks ground on ARRA stimulus project in parts of Arizona
TDS Telecommunications Corp. (TDS®) says that construction is underway on its American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) stimulus project in parts of Arizona, including near the Gila Bend Mountains, near the Coconino National Forest, and near the state’s southern-most border. Once complete, about 600 customers in the areas will gain access to TDS’ high-speed Internet services. [NOTE: See TDS’ Arizona Telephone Company project map by clicking the hyperlink.]
TDS has hired TelCom Construction with a branch location in Phoenix Ariz. to do the outside construction work on this project. Once the outside work is finished, TDS will complete the inside work. The project is scheduled to be accessible to customers by fall 2014.
TDS is receiving funding for the project from the United States Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Rural Utilities Service (RUS) as part of the ARRA.
