TDS announces plans to expand fiber-optic network to DeForest, Wis.
Gigabit-speed broadband network to provide new choice for internet, TV, and phone services
MADISON, Wis. (May 29, 2018) — TDS Telecommunications LLC (TDS Telecom/TDS®) unveiled plans to construct a new fiber-optic broadband network in the village of DeForest. The Wisconsin-based telecom company worked with local officials to lay out a plan to expand its serving area in the Village.
“The Village enthusiastically supports this new fiber optic network project,” states Sam Blahnik, Community Development Director in DeForest. "Our business community needs advanced broadband internet connectivity to expand technology solutions. In addition, the rollout of this network to businesses will also provide connectivity in our residential developments, benefitting the entire community.”
Once complete, DeForest will be one of the most highly-connected communities in the nation with Gigabit speed offerings to delight telecommuters, telemedicine, and online education computer-users alike. “And let’s not forget gamers and movie enthusiasts,” adds Jim Butman, TDS Telecom president and CEO. “There will be more than enough speed and bandwidth for everyone.”
TDS is currently engineering the network and plans to begin construction of the new fiber optic network this summer. The aggressive project includes installing fiber-to-the-home connections and laying underground fiber in neighborhoods and business parks.
