TDS Telecom completes acquisition of Granite State Communications
Transaction brings together two longtime telecommunications providers in New Hampshire
TDS Telecommunications LLC (TDS Telecom), a wholly owned subsidiary of Telephone and Data Systems, Inc. (NYSE: TDS), has completed the purchase of Granite State Communications’ fiber optic and voice operations. The transaction brings together two longtime telecommunications providers in New Hampshire and ensures the continuation of high-quality service for customers.
The acquisition expands TDS’ New Hampshire footprint by more than 11,000 fiber service addresses adjacent to its existing service area. TDS first announced the purchase agreement with Granite State Communications in April, pending regulatory approvals, which have now been received.
Granite State customers will not see any immediate change in services, and no action is required on their part. In the future, residents will see the TDS name and logo on bills, company vehicles, and other items. More information will be forthcoming as the transition proceeds in the coming weeks and months.
“With the close of this transaction, we’re thrilled to welcome Granite State customers and associates to TDS. As our integration efforts move forward, we’re committed to building on Granite State’s strong traditions and exceptional service for years to come,” TDS Telecom Senior Vice President of Corporate Affairs Drew Petersen said.
TDS has become a national leader in fiber-optic construction, with more than 1.1 million connections nationwide. In addition to state-of-the-art fiber internet, TDS’ services include a sophisticated TV product called TDS TV®+, which features a large selection of networks and channels, cloud DVR, and integration with streaming apps.
TDS also offers landline phone packages and TDS Mobile, which provides nationwide 5G coverage at affordable prices. Qualifying customers are eligible for a low-cost service called TDS Connect that includes speeds up to 200 Mbps.
Granite State customers will receive additional information by mail and email as the transition progresses. Visit TDS online at tdstelecom.com.
