TDS bringing up to 8 gigabit internet across its Indiana service areas
TDS Telecommunications LLC (TDS®) is upgrading its entire Indiana service area to bring faster, more reliable internet to more homes and businesses. Supported in part by the Federal Communications Commission’s (FCC) Enhanced Alternative Connect America Model (E-ACAM) program and complemented by additional private investment from TDS, the work will expand high-speed access in rural and underserved locations while increasing available speeds in select areas throughout the state.
“Hoosier communities need connectivity that keeps pace with the way people live, learn, work, and run businesses today,” said TDS Senior Vice President of External Affairs Drew Petersen. “We’re bringing faster speeds across our Indiana service areas—especially in rural locations where dependable broadband can be hard to find.”
E-ACAM provides funding support for rural high-speed connections to select locations across the U.S. TDS is investing additional funds to bring faster speeds to addresses not included as part of the program and deliver upgrades to customers across its Indiana footprint. When the projects are complete, customers will have access to internet speeds starting at 100Mbps, and to up to 8 gigabits depending on location.
The company’s upgrades will include new fiber construction in select locations as well as improvements to existing infrastructure, helping deliver consistent performance for streaming, remote work and school, and other bandwidth-intensive needs.
Build and upgrade work will be done in phases, with customers able to connect to faster speeds once work in their neighborhood is completed. Residents will be notified of construction in several ways, including signage and by postcard, letter, and door hangers. All E-ACAM funded projects will be completed by the end of 2028.
Beyond the faster speeds, TDS will continue to offer its full-featured TV product, TDS TV®+, as well as its mobile and landline phone services to residential addresses. Business can choose faster dedicated connections, plus its existing TV packages, and managed IP—TDS’ hosted VoIP communications solution. A low-cost, high-speed internet product called TDS Connect is available for qualifying customers.
TDS has been a trusted local provider in nearly 40 communities across the Hoosier state since 1973. Residents interested in learning more about TDS’ upgrade projects can visit TDS.com/NetworkUpgrades for more information.
