BUTTE, Montana – TDS Telecommunications LLC (TDS®) has reached another milestone on its all-fiber internet project in Butte, connecting its 1,000th customer to high-speed internet. Butte educators Barb and Don Peoples received a gift basket and recognition at a recent Butte Central football game for being customer No. 1,000.
The TDS network includes upload and download speeds up to 8 Gig, sophisticated TV services, a variety of phone options, TDS Mobile, and 10 Gig dedicated connections for businesses. The network features key advantages over other providers, including higher upload speeds and its ability to easily incorporate technological advances.
“Fiber internet is truly a game-changer for Butte. Our fast, reliable service is world-class and a major boon for helping homes and businesses stay connected,” said Tom Cronnelly, TDS associate manager of Field Marketing. “As we continue working to expand our network to more neighborhoods, we’re pleased to mark this milestone and look forward to connecting more customers in the months ahead.”
Construction on the network began in 2023. In April 2024, TDS opened its warehouse with a ribbon cutting ceremony featuring Gov. Greg Gianforte, and a few weeks later connected its first customer to service.
Earlier this year, TDS introduced its new All-in-Pricing model, in which bundles of TDS service with internet speeds up to 1 Gig start at $49.99 per month. In addition, the company’s TDS Connect program offers discounted rates for customers who meet certain income requirements.
TDS, operating as TDS Metrocom LLC, is a family-operated company founded in 1969. TDS is making a capital investment in Montana of nearly $160 million to provide fiber internet services in Billings, Great Falls, Helena, Missoula, and Butte. In addition, the company works to support the communities it serves through hands-on volunteering and financial support to nonprofits and schools.
