10 Wisconsin high school seniors receive WSTF scholarships

TDS Telecommunications Corp. (TDS®) presented 10 Wisconsin high school seniors Wisconsin State Telecommunications Foundation (WSTF) scholarships in May.

Each year, local telephone companies — including TDS — participate in the WSTF scholarship program. The scholarships are available to high school seniors in the company’s service area. Applications are reviewed by WSTF volunteers who select finalists based on financial need, academic achievements, and extracurricular activities.

This year, 10 students in TDS service areas received WSTF scholarships ranging from $500 to $1,500. The winners include:
Nicholas Thoma, Neillsville High School
Alison Gruen, Marshfield High School
Paige Bernklau, Medford Area Senior High School
Ryan Jirschele, Valders High School
Patrick Ballweg, Waunakee High School
Connor Flynn, Lancaster High School
Lidia Frias, Iola-Scandinavia High School
Austin Kilburg, Cuba City High School
Megan Salzmann, Cuba City High School
Mitchel Hasse, Monroe High School

The foundation awarded more than $55,000 in scholarships this year. Since 1966 WSTF has awarded more than $1.2 million in scholarships. The foundation is part of the Wisconsin State Telecommunications Association, a trade organization representing 65 telephone companies and cooperatives in Wisconsin.
