TDS TV® now available in parts of Monroe, Wis.

Residents now have a new choice when it comes to selecting a TV provider; some will gain access to speeds up to 50 Mbps.

TDS Telecommunications Corp. (TDS®) announces the availability of TDS TV service in parts of Monroe, Wis. The IP-based TV platform is the most technologically advanced TV service available in the area.

About 50 percent of the households in Monroe now have access to TDS TV and speeds up to 50 Mbps. In the near future, some customers will have an opportunity to sign up for speeds up to 100 Mbps with TDS TV service.

In order to accomplish this, TDS put in nearly 30 miles of fiber (combination of laying underground and putting overhead), new fiber distribution hubs, and worked to feed everything to a new Calix-fed platform.

TDS TV isn’t cable, and it’s not satellite. It’s an alternative that people really like. Powered by Microsoft® Mediaroom®, TDS TV features more than 260 all-digital channels (including HD), video-on-demand and pay-per-view, picture-in-picture channel surfing, instant channel change, and a Connected-Home DVR. 

The Connected-Home DVR, which is included with all TDS TV service, links up to four TVs together in a home allowing customers to:
Pause a show in one room and resume it in another.
Watch and manage recordings from any TV in the home.
Record up to four shows at once.
Store 400 hours of programming (standard-definition).

Many customers comment on the instant channel change feature, too. People never realize how long it takes to switch channels, until they start watching TDS TV.

Since first introducing TDS TV in 2008, TDS has invested $25-30 million to deploy TV service technology across the country. In addition to being available in parts of Monroe and other Wisconsin communities, TDS TV is also available in parts of Ga., Minn., and Tenn.
