Customers gain more channels, improved DVR functionality, many more features
TDS Telecommunications Corp. (TDS®) is upgrading its TDS TV® platform in Farragut and Mt. Juliet, Tenn. TDS is switching from the Minerva platform to Microsoft® Mediaroom®.
With the Microsoft Mediaroom platform, customers will get more than 260 all-digital channels (including HD), video-on-demand, and pay-per-view, picture-in-picture channel surfing, instant channel change, and a Connected-Home DVR.
“This is great news for customers, especially our customers who have been with us since we launched in 2008,” says Tony Bugher, market manager for TDS. “The new Microsoft platform offers more functionality, especially when it comes to the DVR.”
According to Bugher, a single DVR works for the whole house. He says, “It gives customers complete control when recording, retrieving, and managing their TV programs regardless of which TV the DVR is connected.”
The Connected-Home DVR, links up to eight TVs together in a home allowing customers to:
Pause a show in one room and resume it in another.
Watch and manage recordings from any TV in the home.
Record up to four shows at once.
Store 400 hours of programming (standard-definition).
