TDS to launch 25 Mbps Internet service in additional markets

More residential customers will soon join businesses with super high speed choices

TDS Telecommunications Corp. announces plans to roll out residential Internet services in more markets with speeds up to 25 Mbps (megabits per second) this fall. This complements super high speed products of up to 1 Gigabit, which are currently available for business customers.

Select neighborhoods in communities such as Monticello, Minn. and Farragut, Tenn. are already enjoying 25 Mbps speeds and can expect nearly the entire community to get the service this fall.

“As communities grow, communication needs change,” Wittwer stated. “Championing economic development is a critical piece of our business strategy and we have the technology, people and expertise to help our communities grow.”

TDS is actively planning to launch super high Internet speeds in more than 20 communities across the nation using newer technology within the next 12 months.

“This is an exciting time at TDS for both our customers and our employees,” states Dave Wittwer, president and CEO of TDS Telecommunications Corp. “No one would have thought we could get these residential speeds a few years ago.  Today it’s a reality due to continuous technological advances and strong local and regional networks.”

While the company says it’s too early to set pricing, Wittwer says residents should expect prices to be very competitive.
