TDS® expands fiber network, brings TDS TV® Fiberville™ concept to Concord and parts of Knoxville
Residents now have a new choice when it comes to selecting a TV provider and will gain access to Internet speeds up to 100Mbps.
Today, TDS Telecommunications Corp. (TDS®) announced it will be expanding its fiber optic network in Concord and parts of Knoxville, Tenn. The technology will deliver TDS TV, TDS’ Internet Protocol (IP) TV service, in addition to Internet speeds of up to 100Mbps. The expansion also kicks off TDS’ new Fiberville concept, a campaign designed to engage neighborhoods in the company’s first-ever pre-registration process.
TDS has divided these new fiber-served areas into neighborhoods, each of which has the opportunity to become a “Fiberville” by having residents pre-register for TDS TV. Neighborhoods with high TDS TV pre-registration rates will qualify for Fiberville status and will receive exclusive offers and discounts. Installations in some neighborhoods will begin as early as September. Customers can find out when TDS Fiber will be available and track their neighborhood’s progress toward Fiberville status on the new TDSfiber.com website.
“Fiber optic cable is the best way to connect communities with technology,” said Erin Olson, manager of Consumer Marketing Operations for TDS. “This project presents a unique opportunity to connect people on a personal level, too. Our hope is that Fiberville gets people talking and meeting face to face—it’s literally community-building from the ground up!”
TDS is also bringing a new mobile demonstration vehicle to Tenn. The custom-wrapped Fiberville RV features an indoor demonstration space with a 40” TV. It also has a second, canopied outdoor space with a 50” TV. Photos of the vehicle can be seen on TDS’ Flickr page. The RV will appear in local parades and events. It will also be visiting TDS neighborhoods that will have the new fiber service.
“We are really excited about the new RV and to be able to demonstrate TDS TV for people who are seeing it for the first time,” said Olson. “I can’t wait for residents to see it, to gather around, and view our new service in action. If it’s parked in your neighborhood, we hope you’ll stop by and say hi.”
The Fiberville RV was unveiled at the Red White and Blues festival on July 3, 2013. For updates and information on future events and to learn about an upcoming RV-related contest, Concord and Knoxville residents can visit TDSfiber.com and TDS TV on Facebook.
Powered by Microsoft® Mediaroom®, TDS TV features more than 260 all-digital channels (including HD), video-on-demand and pay-per-view, picture-in-picture channel surfing, and instant channel change. It also includes a Connected-Home DVR which links up to four TVs together in a home allowing customers to:
• Record up to four shows at once, two of which can be HD;
• Connect up to 10 TVs to enable DVR functionality on all; and
• Schedule and playback recordings from any connected TV.
Since first introducing TDS TV in 2008, TDS has invested more than $30 million to deploy TV service technology across the country. In addition to being available in parts of Mt. Juliet, Farragut, and La Vergne, Tenn., TDS TV is also available in parts of Ga., Minn., and Wis.
TDS TV is available as a standalone service or as part of a money-saving bundle with TDS high-speed Internet and phone service. For more details about TDS TV, visit tdstv.com or call 1-866-44-TDS-TV.
