TDS and its employees help 13 Dane County agencies during holiday season
Support includes $7,000 donation to Second Harvest Foodbank.
Boxes of food, toys, and household items have been donated, sorted and delivered to non-profit organizations around Dane County, courtesy of employees at Telephone and Data Systems Inc. and TDS Telecommunications Corp.
“Our employees always strive to help others have a joyful holiday, which is admirable,” says Andrew Petersen, vice president of External Affairs and Communications at TDS. “To see all the trucks, books, dolls, board games, stuffed animals, pet food, and food of all varieties they donate is both heartwarming and inspiring.”
For weeks, employees have been filling bins at TDS offices all around Dane County with hundreds of items. In addition, employees are also volunteering to make a difference. In all, 13 area organizations are benefiting from TDS and its employees volunteering time and donations this year, including:
Toys for Tots
Domestic Abuse Intervention Services
Dane County Humane Society
Independent Living
Porchlight
Salvation Army
Second Harvest Foodbank of Southern Wisconsin
Middleton Outreach Ministry (MOM) Food Pantry, Middleton
St. Steven’s Food Pantry, Monona
St. John The Baptist Waunakee Food Pantry, Waunakee
The River Food Pantry, Inc., Madison
Village of Belleville Food Pantry, Belleville
Verona Food Pantry, Verona
In addition, TDS employees were invited to choose which non-profit agency should receive a $7,000 donation, in lieu of a corporate holiday party. For the sixth year in a row, employees chose Second Harvest Foodbank as the recipient.
Petersen appreciates employees’ holiday efforts and their year-round efforts. He says, “I’m proud to see the level of support and involvement of our employees throughout the year. It’s part of the culture at TDS and gives us another way to connect with our customers.”
