TDS completes broadband internet project in Arizona

TDS announces completion of its final ARRA broadband stimulus project.

TDS Telecom (TDS®) announces the completion of their final American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) stimulus-funded project. Of the 44 projects TDS received funding for, starting in 2009, this final project in Arizona ensures area businesses and nearly 950 households have access to high-speed internet service.

TDS installed nearly 17 miles of fiber optics cabling and twelve cabinets (which protect the advanced network electronics) throughout TDS’ Arizona Tel. company, which serves parts of Blue Ridge, Happy Jack, Mormon Lake, Dateland, Hyder, and Sasabe. Customers interested in signing up for service can call 888-CALL-TDS (888-225-5837).

Nationwide, more than 95 percent of TDS customers already have access to high-speed Internet service. To bridge the gap and expand services to even more customers, earlier this year, TDS elected to receive $75.1 million from the FCC’s Alternative Connect American Cost Model. Once the 10-year project is complete, nearly 160,000 homes in 25 states will have faster, and more reliable, internet service.
