Search is on for high school scholarship applicants in Minnesota
$2,000 scholarships awarded by Minnesota Telecom Alliance Foundation/TDS®
Calling all Minnesota High School seniors: Now’s the time to apply for $2,000 scholarships that will be awarded by the Minnesota Telecom Alliance Foundation (MTA). Once again, TDS Telecommunications Corp. (TDS®) is participating in the MTA scholarship program.
Interested seniors can access an application, which is due to TDS by February 28, 2014, from their school guidance counselor or online.
Along with incumbent telephone companies and cooperatives across Minnesota, TDS is inviting high school seniors living in their serving areas to apply for the $2,000 scholarships. Annually, MTA awards five scholarships to graduating seniors.
Eligible applicants must:
Be accepted at and attend a post-secondary university, college or technical college starting in the fall of 2014;
Be a Minnesota resident, and
Have an immediate family-member who subscribes to at least one TDS service (phone, Internet and/or TDS TV).
A panel of MTA Foundation members will review all submitted applications and select the finalists based on grades, academic achievements, and extra-curricular activities. Preference is given to students with an interest in telecommunications technology and rural communities.
“We’re happy to have this chance to make an investment in our community by helping young people get a technical or college education,” says Jean Pauk, State Government Affairs Manager at TDS. “Being part of this project, which supports the young people in the community’s we serve, is about being good corporate citizens, which TDS is actively engaged in across the nation."
Applications must be submitted to Jean Pauk, TDS Telecom, 525 Junction Road, Madison, WI 53717 and postmarked no later than February 28, 2014.
The Foundation is part of the Minnesota Telecom Alliance, a trade that advocates and represents the interests of over 80 telecommunications providers throughout Minnesota’s metropolitan and rural communities, including TDS.
