TDS expands fiber network, brings TDS TV and 1Gig Internet to Waterford, Wis.

Customers gain access to Internet speeds up to 1 Gigabit and new choice when selecting a TV provider.

TDS Telecom (TDS®) will be introducing TDS TV®, an Internet Protocol (IP)-based TV service, and new, faster Internet speeds of up to 1 gigabit to customers in the Waterford, Wis. area. The 1Gig Internet is the fastest speed offered by TDS. The services are expected to launch in late 2014/early 2105.

Waterford residents may have already noticed TDS construction in the Village. TDS is laying miles of fiber and putting in new fiber distribution hubs to upgrade the local network to fiber optics. Once the fiber-optic network is completed, speeds up to 1 gigabit will be available with TDS TV service.

“With the success of TDS TV in Dane County communities, we couldn’t be more excited to bring it to Waterford” says Julie Maiers, director of Marketing at TDS. “It means faster speeds, a new choice for TV service, and the opportunity for exclusive discounts.”

TDS is also bringing Fiberville™ to Waterford. It’s a concept that rewards residents and neighborhoods with special offers and discounts once 15 percent of the neighborhood pre-registers for TDS TV service. When this happens, “Fiberville” status is achieved and each pre-registered household receives free HD for life.

Maiers said, “Fiberville offers Waterford residents a unique opportunity to get out and talk to their neighbors and to get extra savings for as long as they’re a TDS customer. It’s also a great chance to get fantastic TV service. Customers tell us how much they enjoy TDS TV, the included DVR, and how easy it is to use.”

Residents can get updates on when TDS TV and 1Gig will be available, as well as track their neighborhood’s progress toward Fiberville status, at TDSfiber.com.

Powered by Mediaroom®, TDS TV features more than 260 all-digital channels (including 100+ in HD), on-demand TV and movies, pay-per-view, and on-the-go viewing options. TDS TV also includes a Connected-Home DVR which links all TVs together in a home allowing customers to:
Record up to four shows at once in HD;
Connect up to 10 TVs to enable DVR functionality on all;
Schedule and playback recordings on any connected TV; and
Store up to 400 hours of programming (standard-definition).

Wireless set-top boxes are also available with TDS TV. Without being tethered to a cable jack of any kind, wireless set-top boxes allow customers the flexibility to move their TVs anywhere in a room—all that’s needed is a power outlet.

The market-leading 1Gig Internet service, available as part of a money-saving TDS TV bundle, includes Remote PC Support. In addition to receiving unlimited access to technical support, Remote PC Support provides assistance with device setup, computer cleanup, PC optimization, advanced Internet troubleshooting, and wireless device configuration.

In the coming year TDS plans to continue expanding TDS TV to more Wisconsin communities, including Johnson Creek and Elkhorn. For more information, visit TDSfiber.com or call 1-866-44-TDS-TV.
