TDS wins broadband funds for the Town of Berry in Wisconsin

Public Service Commission of Wisconsin awards TDS Telecom 50/50 matching grant.

During their open meeting this morning, the Public Service Commission of Wisconsin (PSCW) announced Fiscal Year 2017 Broadband Expansion Grant Awards. As part of the announcement, TDS Telecom (TDS®) will receive funding to expand broadband service in the Town of Berry, Wis.

The following statement can be attributed to Drew Petersen, vice president of External Affairs and Corporate Communications at TDS Telecom:

“We are pleased that our application to improve broadband services in the Town of Berry has been approved. Our customers have been clamoring for improvement and will be the true beneficiary of this grant, which will ensure better, faster and more reliable Internet service.

“As part of the PSCW’s announcement, TDS will receive half of the $313,000 needed to build out service in the township. Through this 50/50 grant, TDS will receive $156,500 to deliver internet speeds, up to 25 Mbps, to 166 currently unserved households.

“We look forward to breaking ground and moving this project forward. However, before we can start, the PSCW must submit official notification to us. Then, we’ll review and formally accept the grant funding — and complete work within two years.”
