TDS building fiber network in Salem, Kentucky
About 800 addresses to get 8Gig connections
TDS Telecommunications, LLC (TDS®) is upgrading its Salem, Kentucky network to fiber. It will deliver up to 8Gig speeds to residents and dedicated 10Gig to businesses. The project work, already in progress, is expected to reach about 800 area addresses and will be available to the first customers this summer.
“This fiber-optic project is an investment in Salem’s future,” says Senior Vice President of Corporate Affairs Drew Petersen. “Fiber technology is not only future proof, but it also delivers the reliable, super-fast connections customers are looking for today.”
The network will become available to customers gradually as sections of the network are completed. The company expects to install about 35 miles of fiber around Salem for the project. Build work includes burying conduit and fiber cable in public utility easement areas and hanging cable on utility poles.
Up to 8Gig symmetrical internet will be available, along with a range of other speed options. Over fiber, TDS offers businesses up to 10Gig dedicated connections with a service level agreement and managed IP—TDS’ hosted VoIP communications solution.
TDS has been doing business in Salem for 34 years and has become a leader in fiber-optic deployment in the U.S. Residents interested in learning more about TDS fiber services can visit TDSFiber.com/KYfiber for more information.
