TDS turns on all-fiber internet in Menomonie, Wisconsin

Company’s expansion also brings new TV and voice provider to the community

TDS Telecommunications LLC (TDS®) is connecting the first customers to its all-fiber network in Menomonie, Wisconsin. The high-tech infrastructure project by TDS Metrocom LLC, a subsidiary of TDS, means area residents are gaining up to 8Gig connections as well as up to 10Gig dedicated connections to businesses. TDS also offers TV and phone service for all customers, bringing a new competitive provider to Menomonie.

“It’s an exciting milestone when customers can try our fiber service and truly understand the difference it makes,” says Andrew Petersen, senior vice president of Corporate Affairs at TDS. “The technology is a game changer, but we offer it at competitive prices so everyone can take advantage of the speed and reliability.”

TDS, a Madison-headquartered company, announced its plans to connect around 5,000 Menomonie addresses last fall and broke ground on the project earlier this year. The network is being powered up neighborhood by neighborhood as sections of the project are finished. Availability will continue to expand as TDS contractors complete build work.

Menomonie residents included in the build footprint can choose from a range of internet speeds. TDS’ fiber offerings begin at 300Mbps and go up to 8Gig for residential and business customers. Businesses can also choose dedicated connections up to 10Gig with a service level agreement. All of TDS’ internet services are symmetrical, with equal download and upload speeds. For Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP) participants, TDS also offers a product called TDS Connect that includes up to 200Mbps/200Mbps speeds at a price fully covered by the monthly ACP benefit.

“TDS Connect delivers the same high-quality fiber connections to those leveraging the ACP program,” says Petersen. “The ACP is a helpful benefit, and we encourage residents to see if they qualify.”

Along with high-speed data connections, TDS also offers phone services and a feature-rich TV service called TDS TV®+. The product includes local channels, sports content, and national networks, TDS TV+ also integrates with popular streaming services, and offers On Demand and TV Everywhere content. Services are available alone and bundled.

In addition to Menomonie, TDS is also building fiber networks in Eau Claire, Altoona, and Chippewa Falls. Services are available to customers in all communities while build work continues. TDS is investing nearly half a billion dollars on fiber expansion in Wisconsin.
