TDS starts installing super-fast fiber internet in Marshfield, Wisconsin

All-fiber network also brings new TV and voice provider to the community

TDS Telecommunications LLC (TDS®) has launched fiber services in Marshfield, Wisconsin to the first customers, bringing up to 8Gig connections for residents and up to 10Gig dedicated connections to businesses along with TV and phone service for all. The milestone by TDS Metrocom LLC, a subsidiary of Madison-headquartered TDS, comes only three months after the company broke ground on the fiber-to-the-home infrastructure project.

“Residents have been hearing how different fiber service is, but now they can experience it for themselves,” says Andrew Petersen, senior vice president of Corporate Affairs at TDS. “It’s fast, reliable, and we’re truly delighted to bring this world-class technology to Marshfield at competitive prices.”

With the first neighborhood now powered up, access to the all-fiber services will continue to grow as sections of the project are completed. TDS expects to ultimately connect approximately 10,000 Marshfield addresses.

TDS is offering a range of internet speeds starting at 300Mbps and up to 8Gig for residential customers, with dedicated connections up to 10Gig with service level agreements available for businesses. All of TDS’ internet services are symmetrical, meaning that the download and upload speeds are equal — including the company’s low-cost offering for Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP) participants. Called TDS Connect, the product includes up to 200Mbps/200Mbps speeds at a price fully covered by the monthly ACP benefit.

“The ACP program and TDS Connect are helping to close the digital divide,” says Petersen. “We strongly encourage residents to check to see if they qualify for this important benefit.”

Beyond fiber internet, TDS also offers phone services and a feature-rich TV service called TDS TV®+. In addition to offering local channels, sports content, and national networks, TDS TV+ also integrates with popular streaming services, and offers On Demand and TV Everywhere content. Services are available alone and bundled.

The company is investing nearly half a billion dollars on fiber expansion in the Badger State. Beyond Marshfield, TDS built fiber networks in both Stevens Point and the Wausau area, and is actively building networks in Tomah, West Salem, Rockland, and Eau Claire.
