TDS aids local cat rescues on International Cat Day

NAMPA, Idaho – TDS Telecommunications LLC (TDS®) presented a donation of more than $2,000 in cat food to local rescues and shelters in honor of International Cat Day and to raise awareness about the need for assistance to Boise-area animal shelters.

The donation comes as the suspension of cat services at the West Valley Humane Society has strained resources at other local rescues and shelters, with most at maximum capacity and a wait list of 7-10 weeks.

The donation benefits Pet Haven as well as Happy Jack Cats, Inc. in Meridian and Lake Lowell Animal Rescue in Nampa.

“We are deeply thankful for TDS’ generous donation of cat food on International Cat Day! With the recent closure of a major local shelter, we've seen a significant rise in the number and severity of cats needing our care. This donation helps us meet the increased demand and provide essential support to these vulnerable animals,” said Melissa Gurnett, president of Happy Jack Cats Inc.

"Due to the halt of all cat services at WVHS, Pet Haven has had to shoulder the uptick in felines in Nampa, and our wait list has reached an all-time high. We rely heavily on donations by companies like TDS to help support our operations. All donations, whether monetary or food, are vital to improving the lives of shelter cats and fosters,” said Shanna Jiggar, administrative manager of Pet Haven Cat Adoption Center.
