TDS expanding 1Gig broadband to Meridian, Idaho
Meridian, Garden City, and Town of Boise to benefit from new investments
TDS Metrocom, a business unit of TDS Telecommunications LLC (TDS®), unveiled plans to build a fiber-to-the-home network in the fast-growing Meridian, Idaho area.
“We’re thrilled to bring a new, competitive choice for broadband, voice, and television entertainment to these communities,” says Jim Butman, president and CEO of TDS. “This future-proof technology will not only provide the reliability and speed of a world-class internet connection, but it will also foster additional growth and economic development for this booming region.”
TDS’ expansion into Meridian will also create new job opportunities. New positions in sales and technical services are currently posted on the company’s website with additional positions anticipated in the coming months. TDS officials and contracted construction teams will become highly visible in the area this spring.
Meridian will become one of the most highly connected communities in the nation with Gigabit speed offerings to delight residential and commercial customers, telecommuters, and online education computer-users alike. “And let’s not forget gamers and movie enthusiasts,” adds Butman. “There will be more than enough speed and bandwidth for everyone.”
Last year, TDS began building a 700-mile fiber-optic network to the nearby communities of Coeur d’Alene, Hayden, Hayden Lake, Post Falls, and Rathdrum, Idaho to deliver the same 1Gig broadband technology. The first customers were connected in November of 2019 and services will continue launching in phases in the coming months.
