TDS Telecom to Acquire Granite State Communications
MADISON, Wis. —TDS Telecommunications LLC (TDS Telecom), a wholly owned subsidiary of Telephone and Data Systems, Inc. (NYSE: TDS), has entered into a purchase agreement with Granite State Communications to transfer ownership of the independent phone company’s fiber optic and voice operations. The acquisition combines two highly respected, adjacent internet providers in New Hampshire and is expected to close within the third quarter of 2026. As a result of the acquisition, TDS Telecom will gain more than 11,000 fiber service addresses.

Granite State Communications history dates to 1877 and once consisted of four separate telephone companies: Chester Telephone Company, Sandown Telephone Company, Weare Telephone Company, and Triangle Telephone Company. Throughout its history, Granite State Communications has maintained a large commitment to investing in its network and its communities.

TDS Telecom, a Madison, Wisconsin-based company, has been doing business in New Hampshire since 1970 and owns five telephone companies, four of which have been operating as TDS Telecom since 2004.
