TDS Telecom Leadership Changes Take Effect

TDS Telecommunications LLC (TDS®) is starting the New Year with several new senior leaders, which includes the appointment Shane West to Chief Operating Officer (COO).

As COO, West is now responsible for all day-to-day operations for field services, network assurance, facilities, call center operations, consumer and commercial sales, product development, and marketing.

West has been a part of the TDS organization for over 27 years. He first joined TDS Telecom’s parent company, Telephone and Data Systems, Inc. in 1996. In 2001, he came to TDS Telecom from sister company, UScellular, where he helped the wireless company launch its first-ever family and unlimited roaming plans. In the last seven years with TDS Telecom, Shane has held two senior-level leadership positions with TDS Telecom—Senior Vice President of Marketing, Sales, and Customer Operations, and Senior Vice President of Network Operations. In this role, he oversaw the field services and repair teams responsible for all service installations, resolutions, preventative maintenance, and outage restoration efforts for the company’s telecom and cable operations.

“In the last 23 years, Shane has been a key contributor to many departments throughout our organization,” said Jim Butman, TDS Telecom President and Chief Executive Officer. “He is a proven leader, and I’m confident he’ll make a positive impact as our new COO.”

“This is an exciting time for TDS Telecom, and I’m eager to continue furthering our goal of becoming the preferred broadband provider in our markets,” said West.

West earned a Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire and a Master of Business Administration in Marketing from the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse.

Other noteworthy leadership changes include the promotion of Steve Mathesius (Vice President of Data Management and Chief Information Security) and Jeff Mand (Vice President of Construction and Service Enablement.

Mathesius now leads cybersecurity and risk management functions at TDS Telecom and its parent company, Telephone and Data Systems, Inc. Mand leads TDS Telecom’s internal construction teams and is responsible for centralized customer enablement functions.
