TDS Telecom begins rolling out free speed upgrades in Central Oregon
BEND, Oregon – TDS Telecommunications LLC (TDS®) began rolling out free speed upgrades Tuesday, Oct. 1, with homes and businesses throughout Central Oregon set to receive internet speeds up to 1 Gigabit – at no additional cost.
“As TDS celebrates 10 years serving Central Oregon, we’re excited to launch an initiative that will improve residents’ quality of life and enhance a key part of the region’s infrastructure,” said Shane West, TDS Chief Operating Officer. “Central Oregon deserves state-of-the-art internet, TV, and voice services. We’re pleased to provide these upgrades for free and build on our commitment to the community.”
TDS’ speed upgrades began Oct. 1 and will be performed on a rolling basis. Central Oregon customers should watch their mailbox and email for more information about the upgrade status at their location. The lightning-fast speeds allow users to more easily do remote work or school, virtual doctor appointments, video conferences, online shopping, and a wide variety of other tasks.
Fast internet is also key for businesses’ operations and helps communities attract more growth and development.
For many customers, upgrades will happen automatically. Some customers may need a new modem to access up to 1 Gig speed if they have an older device not capable of Gigabit speeds. Those customers should watch for instructions on upgrading their devices or call (833) 721-0026 for questions.
Customers with any other questions on the upgrades should call (844) 322-8834.
TDS is marking 10 years in Central Oregon after acquiring BendBroadband in 2014. Over the past decade, TDS has invested more than $80 million to upgrade its network, in addition to actively supporting a variety of local nonprofits with sponsorships and grants.
