TDS lights up all-fiber grant project in Necedah, Wisconsin

Super high-speed all-fiber internet connections are now available in Necedah, Wisconsin for the first time thanks to a just-launched TDS Telecommunications LLC (TDS®) project. The Madison-headquartered company broke ground on the project last year and the new fast speeds of up to 8 Gig are now available to the first 190 addresses in the project with more construction still to be done. Access will gradually increase as sections of the upgraded network are turned on.

“This project truly reflects our commitment to bringing state-of-the-art services to rural communities,” says Drew Petersen, senior vice president of Corporate Affairs for TDS. “We’re excited to be connecting customers to this new, fast, reliable infrastructure that will meet the needs of the community today and for years to come.”

The fiber network upgrade project is being partially funded by a $1.08 million Public Service Commission of Wisconsin Broadband Access Grant awarded to TDS in November of 2021. The project will ultimately impact 805 Necedah addresses when it is complete.

The fiber-to-the-premises infrastructure delivers symmetrical speeds starting at 300 Mbps with top speeds of up to 8 Gig available for both residents and businesses. Commercial customers can also choose 10 Gig dedicated connections. Although the Federal Communications Commission’s Affordable Connectivity Program has ended, TDS continues to offer a low-cost internet option called TDS Connect. Service bundles are also available.

TDS has been serving customers in Wisconsin for more than 50 years. Residents and businesses interested in learning more about TDS products can visit TDSFiber.com.

This project is being supported in part by federal award number SLFRP0135 awarded to Central State Telephone DBA TDS Telecommunications LLC by the U.S. Department of the Treasury. These federal funds were made available through the American Rescue Plan Act and the State of Wisconsin, acting by and through the Public Service Commission of Wisconsin.
