TDS launches Green Bay-area fiber internet network

TDS Telecommunications LLC (TDS®) has connected the first customers to its high-speed, all-fiber internet network in the Green Bay area – and the company is celebrating at the Dec. 9 Green Bay Gamblers game.

Construction began earlier this year on the network, which will eventually serve approximately 87,000 homes and businesses in the Green Bay area. The TDS network will feature ultra-fast internet upload and download speeds of up to 2Gig for residents and up to 10Gig dedicated connections for businesses.

To celebrate, TDS is sponsoring a fan giveaway at Friday’s game against the Madison Capitols, and two of the first customers to connect to the network will drop the ceremonial first puck. Craig Morz and his 2-year-old granddaughter, Skyler, will do the honors prior to the start of the 7:05 p.m. game.

In addition, TDS is participating in a Toys for Tots drive, encouraging fans to bring a toy to donate.

“We are so excited to begin offering services in the Green Bay area and bring fast, reliable internet to thousands of customers. We’re looking forward to celebrating at Friday’s game while also helping an important community effort in Toys for Tots,” said Kathryn Gardner, TDS associate manager of field marketing in Green Bay.

Built in phases, area residents can connect to the new network once work is completed in their area. TDS’ build area includes addresses in Green Bay, Allouez, Ashwaubenon, Bellevue, Hobart, Howard, Suamico, and DePere.

In addition to Green Bay, TDS also recently connected its first customers in Oshkosh.

“We saw during the pandemic how critically important high-speed internet really is. With this major private investment in Green Bay and many other areas in Wisconsin, we’re proud to help communities in our home state upgrade infrastructure and improve quality of life for their residents,” said Drew Petersen, TDS Senior Vice President of Corporate Affairs.
