TDS to join community bed-building effort in Central Oregon

REDMOND, Oregon – More than a dozen associates from TDS Telecommunications LLC (TDS®) will be among those joining Sleep in Heavenly Peace and Home Depot to build 100 beds for children in need on Saturday, April 1.

The community event will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Deschutes County Fairgrounds and Expo Center, 3800 SW Airport Wy, Redmond. Media are invited to attend.

With a mission of “No kid sleeps on the floor in our town,” Sleep in Heavenly Peace works to build, assemble, and deliver bunk beds to children and families in need. Founder Luke Mickelson is expected to be at Saturday’s event, which is one of the larger bed builds the group has done.

In addition to personnel, TDS (formerly known as BendBroadband) also donated $6,500 toward expenses such as material, box springs, mattresses, and bedding.

“Serving our community and supporting great organizations like Sleep in Heavenly Peace is a core part of TDS’ mission. We’re excited to be involved with this true community project and do our part to help all children get a good night’s sleep,” said Monte Axtell, TDS associate manager of field marketing in Bend.
