TDS Telecom to build high-speed fiber internet network in New Berlin

New Berlin becomes TDS’ second Waukesha County community

TDS Telecommunications LLC (TDS®) is expanding its presence in Waukesha County with an all-fiber, high-speed internet network in New Berlin that will serve thousands of homes and businesses.

TDS’ network will include up to 8Gig residential internet, and up to 10Gig dedicated fiber connections for businesses. New Berlin is the second Waukesha County community in which TDS is launching its fiber network after previously announcing Brookfield.

“We are excited to grow our presence in Waukesha County. With this multi-million-dollar private investment, we will help improve a key part of the community’s infrastructure and better connect New Berlin residents and businesses,” said Drew Petersen, TDS senior vice president of corporate affairs.

The fiber-optic project will deliver what’s known as the “gold standard of residential internet connections.” According to a Fiber Broadband Association report, only 43 percent of households in the United States have access to fiber, putting residents in New Berlin in a select group with such access.

In addition to fast internet, TDS’ expansion will give residents a new choice for TV and phone providers. TDS’ TV product, TDS TV®+, offers local and national networks, integration with popular streaming services, the ability to start shows over, and cloud DVR. Phone packages and service bundles will be available.

Madison-based TDS has been doing business in the state since 1969 and now serves customers in 32 states. In addition to Brookfield, the company has been actively growing its fiber footprint with builds in progress in the Fox Cities, Eau Claire, Onalaska, and Sparta.
