TDS launching free speed upgrades for Central Oregon customers

Major investment will give Bend-area customers speeds up to 1 Gig at no extra charge

BEND, Oregon – TDS Telecommunications LLC (TDS®) is providing free upgrades to Central Oregon customers’ internet speeds as part of a major investment in the community and its local network. Homes and businesses in Bend and throughout the region will soon have speeds up to 1 Gig – at no additional cost.

“We’re thrilled that thousands of homes and businesses in the Bend area will soon have faster internet at their doorstep,” said Shane West, TDS Chief Operating Officer. “We value our customers and recognize their digital needs continue to evolve. Central Oregon deserves fast, reliable internet and we’re pleased to provide these upgrades for free.”

Customers will have access to lightning-fast internet speeds, allowing users to more easily do remote work or school, virtual doctor appointments, video conferences, online shopping, and a wide variety of other tasks. The upgrades serve as a big benefit for schools, libraries, public safety agencies, businesses of all sizes, and many more.

The upgrades are set to roll out later this year. Residents and businesses will be notified by mail or email when their service has been upgraded to 1 Gig.

TDS is celebrating 10 years of serving Central Oregon after acquiring BendBroadband in 2014. Over the past decade, TDS has invested more than $80 million to upgrade its network, in addition to actively supporting a variety of local nonprofits with sponsorships and grants.

“This initiative represents another major investment in our customers as we continue working to serve our communities and provide the best possible service,” West said.
