Installations of TDS Fiber service begin in Stevens Point, Wisconsin

1Gig internet, TDS TV, and phone now available to first customers

TDS Telecom’s (TDS®) all-fiber network is now available to the first customers in Stevens Point, Wisconsin. The network delivers internet speeds up to 1Gig (1,000Mbps), TDS’ all-digital TV service, TDS TV®, and phone options. This initial launch impacts close to 1,000 addresses with availability expanding by neighborhood in the coming months.

"I am excited to see the first customers getting connected,” said Stevens Point Mayor Mike Wiza. “TDS has been a great supporter of events all over central Wisconsin and I look forward to that relationship continuing."

The city of Stevens Point approved TDS’ plan to install a high-speed fiber-optic network within the city limits in January of 2019. Since construction began on the project, TDS and its contractors have buried more than 100 miles of conduit. Work will continue in the coming months and, when complete, the fiber-to-the-home network will reach more than 12,000 addresses.

“During this unprecedented time, a quality internet connection is more important than ever,” says Julie Maiers, vice president of Marketing and Product Development for TDS. “Fiber delivers the bandwidth customers need to work at home, go to school, and stay in touch with family and friends remotely.”

Residents and businesses who registered for service in areas that are launching will be contacted about scheduling their installations. Additional neighborhoods are expected to launch through early 2021.

TDS Fiber service delivers up to 1Gig internet speeds along with TDS TV® and phone. Businesses within the TDS Fiber footprint can order internet access and transport connections up to 10 Gig via dedicated fiber, TDS managedIP (a hosted VoIP communications solution), as well as TDS TV.

TDS TV is TDS’ all-digital TV service. Available elsewhere in Wisconsin, the service includes local channels and a variety of industry-leading features including a Connected-Home DVR, which links all TVs in a home together giving full DVR functionality and programming access to each wireless set-top box.

Area residents can visit TDSFiber.com to register for service, monitor the progress of the build, and sign up for notifications about the new service.
