TDS fiber expansion project complete in Elkhorn, Wisconsin
More than 71 miles of fiber doubles availability of super-fast speeds
TDS Telecommunications LLC (TDS®) has completed construction on its fiber network expansion in Elkhorn, Wisconsin delivering up to 1Gig symmetrical speeds, TV, and phone services to more than 2,800 area addresses. The project work included installing approximately 71 miles of fiber to connect both residential addresses and businesses, doubling the size of the company’s fiber-to-the-home network.
“Elkhorn was one of the first communities in Wisconsin where we invested in an all-fiber TDS network, and we’re proud so many more residents now have access to the reliable, super-fast speeds this technology offers,” says Senior Vice President of Corporate Affairs, Drew Petersen. “These high-quality connections are what people are looking for to do business, attend school, and enjoy today’s entertainment.”
The first customers impacted by the expansion project were connected last spring, with services becoming available to additional locations as the network was completed. All addresses included in the TDS build area now have a range of super-fast internet options up to 1Gig along with TV and phone service. All speeds come with symmetrical upload and download speed. Businesses now have dedicated connections up to 10Gig, as well as phone service including managedIP, a hosted Voice over IP (VoIP) solution.
The company, headquartered in Madison, Wisconsin, is investing nearly $1 billion to expand its fiber network in Wisconsin, which includes Dane County, central Wisconsin, and the Fox Cities/Green Bay area. TDS has customers in 105 Wisconsin communities and is in the process of building fiber networks in 43 Wisconsin municipalities.
