TDS Telecom donates $90K to Tumbleweed Runaway Program of Billings
TDS Telecommunications LLC (TDS®) is pleased to support Tumbleweed Runaway Program after the company raised a record amount for two charities at its annual charity golf outing, the TDS Open, on Friday, July 18. Associates and vendors participated in the golf outing in Madison, Wisconsin. Safe Harbor Child Advocacy Center in Madison, Wisconsin, and Tumbleweed of Billings each received $90,000.
Tumbleweed Runaway Program is a local non-profit organization dedicated to supporting homeless, trafficked, runaway, and at-risk youth and their families. Tumbleweed provides the care necessary to foster hope and opportunity, meeting young people in the community and helping them transition from merely surviving to thriving.
Georgia Cady, executive director at Tumbleweed Runaway Program, said the TDS Open will greatly benefit vulnerable youth in Billings.
“The money raised at the TDS Open 2025 will be life-changing for the young people we serve at Tumbleweed. These funds will help us open more doors to safety, dignity, and hope for young people experiencing homelessness, trauma, and crisis. With every dollar, we’re offering the chance to heal, to grow, and to believe in a future worth fighting for. Thanks to the compassion of TDS Telecom, more young lives will be seen, supported, and forever changed,” Cady said.
After this year’s event, the TDS Open has now raised more than $1 million for worthy nonprofit organizations in communities TDS serves across the country.
“We raised a record-setting donation amount yet again at this year’s TDS Open, with $90,000 going to each of our two outstanding organizations that support vulnerable youth in our serving areas,” said TDS Telecom President and CEO Ken Dixon. “It is especially rewarding to surpass the incredible milestone of $1 million in total charitable donations since the TDS Open became a charity event 14 years ago.”
The TDS Open has more than 70 sponsors, including platinum-level ($10,000) support from Calix, CoPilot, RaDD Network Solutions, Inc., Salesforce, and Tak Communications. Executive level ($5,000) sponsors include Ascend Wireless, Cisco, Clearfield, CommScope, Evolution Digital, GDT, Lumen, Millenium, Netceed, Nokia, PLP, Prodapt, Sidley, and TiVo. Over 50 vendors donated at various other levels. Money is also raised through raffle tickets, mulligan sales, and hole contests.
