TDS donates $1K to Second Harvest Food Bank for TDS Cares Day
Local TDS Telecommunications LLC (TDS®) associates celebrated TDS Cares Day on June 4, a special event highlighting the company’s core value of investing in communities, by volunteering and donating $1,000 to Second Harvest Food Bank of East Tennessee. On this day, associates across the country increased their normal philanthropic activity to give back in the areas TDS serves.
“We truly believe in walking the talk and living our company values,” said Associate Manager of Field Marketing Brody Huskey. “TDS gives associates 16 hours of paid time off to volunteer, which is a wonderful benefit for those who work for us, and for the communities TDS serves.”
TDS’ $1,000 donation will provide 4,000 meals to children, families, and seniors in Middle and East Tennessee. This is the second donation the company has made to Second Harvest this year. In 2024, TDS’ philanthropic efforts have provided 12,000 meals for those in need.
TDS has served customers in Tennessee for nearly 50 years, currently offering fiber-based internet, phone, and TV products to most customers in the greater Knoxville area. The company made early investments in fiber technology, bringing up to 1 Gig symmetrical fiber connections to area homes and businesses more than 10 years ago. Although the Federal Communications Commission’s Affordable Connectivity Program has ended, TDS continues to offer a low-cost internet option called TDS Connect.
