TDS connects 3,000th customer to its Janesville, Wisconsin fiber network
Construction continues with more than 130 miles of fiber installed to date
TDS Telecommunications LLC (TDS®) has connected its 3,000th customer to its all-fiber network in Janesville, Wisconsin.
TDS associates surprised Douglas and Lori Davis with a gift bag filled with TDS swag and a $100 gift card to Milwaukee Grill to celebrate the milestone. Since starting construction in June 2022, TDS contractors have installed more than 130 miles of conduit and fiber-optic cable in Janesville to deliver symmetrical internet speeds of up to 8 Gig, plus TV and phone service.
“It’s exciting to think about so many people taking advantage of the world-class speeds without having to pay top dollar,” says TDS Associate Manager of Field Marketing Kerri Harold. “This network build is a huge investment in Janesville and we’re really proud to be making a positive impact—not only with our products, but also through our sponsorships, donations, and community involvement.”
Access to the company’s fiber-optic network continues to grow. Construction on TDS’ project is ongoing and will ultimately reach more than 30,000 homes and businesses.
Fiber-optic connections are considered state-of-the-art due to both the speed and the bandwidth the technology delivers. These features are ideal for streaming, gaming, video conferencing, and can easily support the large number of smart-home connected devices found in most U.S. homes.
TDS recently raised $82,500 for Project 16:49, the Janesville nonprofit that helps unhoused youth get the services and support they need to remain in school and become self-sufficient adults.
