TDS completes Swan's Island upgrade

SWAN’S ISLAND, Maine – TDS Telecommunications LLC (TDS®) has completed its project to upgrade services on Swan’s Island, with faster internet speeds available for residents and businesses.

TDS services now include fiber internet, with speeds up to 8 Gig, as well as phone options. The project was made possible thanks to a $1.7 million Maine Connectivity Authority grant TDS received in partnership with Swan’s Island. The grant was supplemented by funds from TDS and local jurisdictions.

“We’re pleased to provide better connections on Swan’s Island and throughout Maine, as we continue working to expand our fiber network throughout our service area,” said Drew Petersen, TDS Senior Vice President of Corporate Affairs.

TDS has served Maine since 1971. In addition to private investment and state grants, TDS is leveraging federal Enhanced Alternative Connect America (E-ACAM) support to expand and improve broadband service to customers in Maine.
