TDS Telecom commends FCC leaders for advancing rural broadband program enhancement

April 28, 2022

Please attribute the following statement to Andrew Petersen, senior vice president of Corporate Affairs at TDS Telecommunications (TDS®):

“TDS Telecom congratulates Jessica Rosenworcel on her effort at the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) to address rural broadband challenges through enhancing the Alternative Connect America Cost Model (ACAM) program. We are pleased the Commission is considering issuing a Notice of Proposed Rulemaking (NPRM) to enhance broadband speeds to rural customers at its May open meeting.

“An enhanced ACAM program would offer additional financial support to rural areas in exchange for increased broadband deployment obligations to additional locations and at higher speeds.

“Chairwoman Rosenworcel believes broadband services are essential. We at TDS are committed to collaborating with her and her FCC colleagues to extend the current ACAM program plan to advance higher, future-proof broadband speeds to rural areas.

“We wish her continued success and encourage the full FCC to take swift action on the NPRM. There is no more important time to make the case for reliable, sustainable and affordable broadband access to rural areas; we don’t have time to waste!”
