TDS announces Billings network build expansion
As community grows, TDS well positioned to serve future development
BILLINGS, Montana – TDS Telecommunications LLC (TDS®) is increasing the construction footprint of its all-fiber, high-speed internet network in Billings, with approximately 5,000 additional West End homes and businesses to be covered and more expansions possible as the area grows.
“As we continue to make progress on building our fiber network, we’re excited to expand our plans to connect more homes and businesses on Billings’ West End. In addition, this investment makes us well positioned to serve even more residents as the area continues to develop. As Billings grows, TDS is ready to serve and grow with it,” Chief Operating Officer Shane West said.
TDS’ network under construction in Billings includes lightning-fast speeds up to 8 Gig, as well as a sophisticated digital TV product (TDS TV®+) and a variety of phone options. About 10,000 addresses now have access to services as crews work to extend the network to more neighborhoods.
In total, TDS is investing approximately $46 million in its local network build, which is expected to eventually reach more than 50,000 addresses.
At a media event Tuesday, company officials also presented a $5,000 donation to the Billings Educational Foundation in support of its 21st Century Education Program.
“Helping our communities is a core part of our mission at TDS. We especially love supporting local schools and the staff members who work hard every day to help students. We’re proud to make this donation to help ensure students have the technology needed to be successful,” West said.
TDS, operating as TDS Metrocom LLC, is a family-owned company founded in 1969. Residents can visit TDSFiber.com to register for service, monitor the progress of the build, and sign up for notifications about the new service.
