TDS Announces Bend Fiber Upgrades
Multi-million-dollar upgrades will deliver faster, stronger internet to thousands of Bend homes and businesses
TDS Telecommunications LLC (TDS®) is pleased to announce a new investment aimed at improving connectivity and fiber infrastructure in the Bend, Oregon, area. The Bend Fiber Upgrades project will bring fiber internet to TDS’ existing network, resulting in enhanced, future-proof connections for more homes and businesses in Central Oregon.
TDS, a family-operated company serving the region since 2014, is investing millions of dollars in the first phase of a multi-year effort to upgrade services to about 30,000 addresses across the Bend area. This initial investment underscores TDS’ long-term commitment to customers and communities throughout Central Oregon.
“For families, local businesses, schools, and community organizations, a strong connection opens new possibilities—and we’re proud to help Bend stay connected to what matters most,” said TDS Telecom SVP of Corporate Affairs Drew Petersen.
The TDS fiber network features symmetrical speeds up to 8 Gigabits – fast enough to upload or download a file of any size nearly instantly. TDS TV®+ includes a wide selection of networks and channels, cloud DVR, and integration with streaming apps. TDS also offers 10 Gigabit dedicated connections for businesses, landline phone packages, and TDS Mobile, which provides nationwide 5G coverage at an affordable price.
Construction will begin in the coming weeks and will be completed in phases throughout Bend. In the first phase, TDS crews will lay more than 200 miles of fiber as part of its infrastructure upgrade using a combination of aerial and underground methods.
TDS will notify residents and businesses construction begins in their area. Residents may see several crews working simultaneously as they work primarily within the public right-of-way, including streets, alleys, and utility easements. As the build progresses, crews may move to other locations and return later to complete additional installation work or final site restoration.
TDS is working closely with the city of Bend and other local partners to keep residents informed of construction impacts and to minimize disruptions. For more information on TDS products and services, visit HelloTDS.com
