TDS announces another new fiber network project in Wisconsin

Marshfield, Wisconsin residents to gain up to 8Gig connections, plus TV and phone services

TDS Telecommunications LLC (TDS®) is bringing its fiber-optic service to approximately 10,000 residential and business addresses in Marshfield and Hewitt, Wisconsin. The all-fiber infrastructure project will deliver up to 8Gig internet speeds for residents, dedicated connections up to 10Gig to businesses, plus the company’s expansion brings a new TV and phone competitor to the community.

“Fiber delivers on the promise of reliable and fast connections today and is scalable for what’s to come tomorrow,” says Drew Petersen, senior vice president of Corporate Affairs for TDS. “We’re excited to get started on this project and become part of such a vibrant and growing community.”

TDS’ Marshfield project will be its first in Wood County. Founded and headquartered in Madison, Wisconsin, the company has completed all-fiber networks in Stevens Point, Mosinee, as well as Wausau and surrounding communities. Construction is expected to start this spring, which will involve burying conduit and cable in utility easement areas in neighborhoods and business parks. TDS services will gradually become available to customers as sections of the network are completed.

“We’re proud to be a 54-year-old Wisconsin company that continues to invest in our home state,” says Petersen. “And beyond the dollars, there’s also a lot of heart. We truly value becoming part of every community we serve by hiring locally and giving back in a variety of ways.”

TDS is investing nearly $1 billion to expand its fiber optic footprint in Wisconsin and serves customers in more than 100 communities in the state. Beyond the Badger State, TDS has become a major player in fiber-optic construction across the U.S. with active build projects in Montana, North Carolina, Idaho, Washington, and New Mexico. The company has customers in 32 states.

For residents, the company’s product suite includes a range of symmetrical internet speeds up to 8Gig, as well as TDS’ TV service called TDS TV®+. In addition to offering local and national networks, TDS TV+ integrates with popular streaming services, offers cloud DVR options, and allows customers to start shows over. TDS TV+ is also available for businesses. Both residents and businesses can also choose phone service packages.

Beyond the standard service options, TDS also offers a low-cost service for qualifying customers called TDS Connect that includes up to 200/200Mbps internet speeds. The monthly cost of TDS Connect is fully covered by the Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP) benefit.
