Food donation drive benefiting the Humane Society of Portage County, Wis.

Drop off pet food donations at TDS’ Stevens Point retail store February 24-29

The Humane Society of Portage County (HSPC) depends on community support to carry out its mission of providing food, comfort, and medical help for the hundreds of companion animals in their care. During the week of February 24-29 this local nonprofit is getting a little extra help.

TDS is hosting a food drive and registration match to benefit the HSPC. Customers can donate new, unopened pet food Monday, Feb. 24 through Friday, Feb. 28 9 a.m.-6 p.m. and Saturday, February 29 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the TDS retail location at 3296 Church Street. TDS will be matching all food donations and will also be donating $25 to HSPC for each new TDS Fiber registration made at the store.

“We depend on the kindness of others to keep rescuing animals in Portage County,” says Sherri Galle-Teske, executive director of HSPC.  “We are continuously working with stray and surrendered animals to secure their health, wellbeing, and find them forever homes.  A supply drive is a great way to help us lower our costs so we’re able to use funds to pay for medicine, food, shelter care and other needed supplies. We are very appreciative of TDS and their generosity.”

The HSPC wish list includes the following:

·         Dry Food - Kitten (Iams, Purina One or Royal Canin ONLY)

·         Canned Cat & Kitten food (Friskies & Iams PATÉ ONLY )

·         Dry Cat Food (Iams, Science Diet, Purina One ONLY)

·         Spray Cheese (Easy Cheese ONLY)

·         Canned Dog Food (Pedigree, Purina, Purina One ONLY)

TDS is already an active supporter of HSPC by providing treats for dogs and cats at the Fix is In Spay and Neuter Clinics, as well as the Countywide Dog Vaccination/Licensing Clinic. TDS also sponsors Walks for Wags, Pet Fest, and HSPC Open Golf events.

TDS and the city of Stevens Point announced a partnership in January 2019 to build a fiber-optic network for residents within the city limits. The first areas are expected to be available to customers this spring. For more information about TDS products, residents can visit the Stevens Point retail location or visit TDSFiber.com.
