Onalaska, Wis. becomes the latest Official TDS Fiber-Fast Community
Company officials and community leaders marked the completion of the TDS all-fiber network with an award presentation and a $1K donation
Representatives from TDS Telecommunications LLC (TDS®) celebrated the completion of the company’s fiber-optic project in Onalaska with a special event, presenting an official Fiber-Fast Community designation to City Administrator Rick Niemeir. Held at Great River Landing, TDS also marked the occasion with a $1K donation to the Lions Club.
“TDS is proud to be investing right here in Wisconsin to strengthen local infrastructure and help communities—like Onalaska—continue to thrive,” said TDS Associate Manager of Field Marketing Alex Wegner. “We’re grateful for the enthusiasm from residents for our technology and are delighted everyone can experience the reliable, fiber-fast connections our infrastructure delivers.”
The Madison-headquartered company broke ground on their high-speed data expansion project in May of 2022, launching up to 8 Gig symmetrical connections to the first customers months later. TDS’ presence in Onalaska also changed the competitive landscape for TV and phone service by bringing a new internet provider choice to area residents.
TDS installed more than 120 miles of fiber to complete the state-of-the-art infrastructure project.
“In addition to investing in technology, we’ve contributed more than $80,000 to the community through sponsorships and donations,” said Wegner. “Giving back is one of our core values as an organization, and you’ll continue to see us at community events, business association meetings, and more for years to come.”
TDS made its first donation in Onalaska when it celebrated the start of construction and closed its project with more philanthropy. As part of the TDS Fiber-Fast celebration, the company presented the Lion’s Club with $1,000 to support the organization’s capital campaign for the Every Child’s Dream all-abilities playground project.
TDS has served customers in Wisconsin for more than 56 years and has become a national leader in fiber-optic construction. Residents interested in learning more about TDS services can visit tds.com or visit the retail store at 1220 Crossing Meadows Drive, Onalaska.
