Minnesota High School student earns MTA scholarship
Join TDS Telecom in congratulating Kendra Schmitz of Brooten, Minnesota for being selected to receive the $2,000 Bud Morrow scholarship from the Minnesota Telecom Alliance (MTA) Foundation. Schmitz plans to attend the University of Minnesota—Duluth to study special education. She is one of six MTA scholarship recipients to receive an award this year.
Since 2008, the MTA Foundation has awarded $68,000 in scholarships to help students further their education. The scholarships are available annually to customers of MTA member companies. The MTA Foundation members review the applications and select finalists based on grades, academic achievements, and extra-curricular activities, with preference given to students who have an interest in telecommunications technology and rural communities.
“TDS Telecom is proud to invest in the future of students by supporting the MTA scholarship and its recipients,” said Jean Pauk, State Government Affairs Manager at TDS Telecom.
The MTA Foundation awarded six scholarships to high school seniors graduating in 2018 to help them further their education.
The Foundation is part of the Minnesota Telecom Alliance, a trade association representing more than 44 telecommunications providers in the state, including TDS.
