TDS presents $10K donation to Salvation Army in honor of construction milestone
GREEN BAY, Wisconsin – TDS Telecommunications LLC (TDS®) presented a $10,000 donation to the Salvation Army food pantry in honor of reaching 10,000 customers in its all-fiber, high-speed internet network in the Green Bay area.
The $10,000 donation comes as the need for the Salvation Army food pantry has grown. The organization has seen 3,000 less pounds of food donations compared to last year, even as the number of households seeking assistance has grown by 13 percent.
A media event was held Tuesday at the TDS retail store, 2789 S. Oneida St., where the company is also holding a food drive benefitting the pantry. Through the end of this week, residents are encouraged to bring nonperishable food items during the store’s operating hours, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
“Fifty-five years after our founding, helping our communities remains a major part of our mission. When we reached 10,000 customers in the Green Bay area, we could think of no better way to celebrate than by making a $10,000 donation to an incredible organization in our community,” said Michele Slattery, TDS Vice President of Sales.
TDS began work in the Green Bay area two years ago and continues its efforts to expand to more neighborhoods in the city of Green Bay and surrounding communities. The fiber network features speeds up to 8 Gigabit, fast enough to download or upload files of any size nearly instantly, as well as TV and phone service.
“Congratulations to TDS on its significant construction milestone. We appreciate its continued investment in the New North region. Since 2020, our region has received nearly $30 million in Public Service Commission grants matched by more than $65 million in private investment for broadband deployment. We are immensely grateful to all our partners for their efforts in connecting our residents and businesses to high-speed internet in the New North region,” said Barbara Koldos, New North Inc. Vice President of Business Development.
“As we continue construction, we have much more work ahead of us and many more residents and businesses to connect. We look forward to continuing our multi-million-dollar private investment and serving Green Bay for many years to come,” Slattery said.
