Free Robocall Blocking now available on California TDS phone lines
The new feature comes at no additional charge for customers
TDS Telecommunications LLC (TDS®) announces free Robocall Blocking for all TDS customers located in California with phone services. Robocalling is defined as automated calling used to deliver a prerecorded message. TDS systems will now identify high-risk “spam” callers and will stop the call from reaching customers’ lines.
“Because of this blocking, our customers can be more confident the calls they answer will be legitimate,” says Julie Maiers, vice president of Marketing and Product Development at TDS. “We’re proud to provide this added layer of security to our customers.”
The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has asked the telecommunications industry to implement controls to reduce unwanted robocalls for customers. In fact, robocalling was the number one category of complaint in 2020.
Please note, Robocall Blocking does not stop legitimate calls from fundraising organizations, political parties, or non-profit agencies that adhere to FCC guidelines.
As an extra step, anyone can place their phone numbers on the national Do Not Call Registry. To do so, visit www.donotcall.gov or call 1-888-382-1222. Once registered, other types of organizations may still call, such as debt collectors, charities, political groups, and surveys.
To report someone who is making illegal calls or transmitting inaccurate Caller ID information, visit reportarobocall.com/trf.
If customers believe they are missing legitimate calls because of Robocall Blocking, they can contact TDS Customer Repair at 1-888-CALL-TDS. To opt out of this service, customers can call the same number. For more information about TDS Robocall Blocking feature, visit tdstelecom.com/norobocall.
