First Evansville, Wisconsin customers connected to TDS all-fiber network

Super-fast symmetrical connections plus TV and phone now available to first build area

TDS Telecommunications LLC (TDS®) has connected the first customers to its new all-fiber network in Evansville, officially launching services on the project the Madison-headquartered company started in May of this year. The move means both residents and businesses have access to up to some of the fastest speeds in the nation with up to 8 Gig upload and download speeds.

“It’s always exciting when customers are in the driver’s seat and can see and experience the fiber difference themselves,” said TDS Senior Vice President of Corporate Affairs Andrew Petersen. “It’s not an exaggeration to say fiber connections enhance quality of life, not only because of the speed, but also because they’re so reliable.”

TDS announced its plans to become an internet, phone, and TV service provider in Evansville last fall, and broke ground on the project five months ago. With the first area launched, the company will continue to increase access to residents as it turns on sections of the network as they are completed.

Fiber-optic technology is unique in offering both multi-gig service options, as well as fully symmetrical connections, meaning upload and download speeds are identical. TDS is offering a range of speed choices for both residential and business customers, as well as service bundles that include TDS TV®+, the company’s sophisticated, digital TV service. TDS TV+ integrates with popular streaming services and has industry-leading features including show start-over and a cloud DVR. Phone service, including TDS’ business VoIP solution called managedIP, is also available.

In addition to TDS’ standard service packages, the company also has a low-cost option for Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP) participants. Called TDS Connect, the service includes 200Mbps/200Mbps speeds and at a price that is fully covered by the monthly ACP benefit.

Construction activity will continue in Evansville as the company’s contractors make progress on the build. TDS is also actively building fiber-optic networks in both Janesville and Milton. The company is investing nearly a billion dollars to expand its fiber network footprint across Wisconsin. TDS has been operating in Wisconsin for more than 50 years and serves 32 states.
