Cottage Grove is next Wisconsin community to get fiber-optic network via TDS

Gigabit-speed broadband network to provide residents and businesses with new choice for internet, TV, and phone services.

TDS Telecommunications LLC (TDS Telecom/TDS®) announced plans to construct a new fiber-optic broadband network in the village of Cottage Grove, Wisconsin.

“Fiber technology levels the playing field between smaller communities and larger cities. Now, residents and businesses in Cottage Grove will have the same speeds as those in nearby Madison and other major metropolitan areas,” says Jim Butman, president and CEO of TDS Telecom.

Once complete, Cottage Grove will be one of the most highly-connected communities in the nation with Gigabit speed offerings. Telecommuters, telemedicine, online education users, gamers, and movie enthusiasts will all enjoy the fastest speeds available in the nation.

TDS is currently engineering the network and hiring contractors with plans to begin construction this summer. The project includes installing fiber-to-the-home connections and laying underground fiber in neighborhoods and business parks.

TDS launched similar next-generation services in nearby Sun Prairie last September. Earlier this spring, TDS announced similar partnerships and plans in McFarland and DeForest, Wisconsin. Following their acquisition of Merrimac Communications, Ltd., TDS is also upgrading the network in Merrimac in order to offer residents and businesses state-of-the-art communications services and solutions.
