Chippewa Falls, Wis. is the first official TDS Fiber-Fast Community in Chippewa County
Community leaders and company officials celebrated the completion of TDS all-fiber network with an award presentation and a $1K donation
TDS Telecommunications LLC (TDS®) Chief Operating Officer Shane West presented Chippewa Falls Mayor Gregory Hoffman with an official Fiber-Fast Community designation at an event at the Leinie Lodge on Wednesday, Sept. 4, to celebrate the completion of its fiber-optic network project in the area. West and Hoffman were joined by TDS Senior Vice President of Human Resources and CHRO AnnMarie Kreitzer, along with State Representative Rob Summerfield and State Senators Jeff Smith and Jesse James. The company also marked the occasion with a $1,000 donation to the Family Support Center.
“As a Madison-based company, we take particular pleasure building and expanding right here in our backyard in Chippewa Falls,” said West. “We’ve found that when you build a better way to access the internet, communities are transformed which is why we invested millions of dollars in this project.”
TDS announced its build plans for Chippewa Falls in April of 2022, kicking off construction in July of that year. The Madison-headquartered company installed more than 91 miles of cable to connect about 5,500 homes and businesses to the completed state-of-the-art network. Work continues on TDS’ projects in Altoona and Eau Claire, Wisconsin.
The fiber-to-the-home technology delivers up to 8 Gig upload and download speeds, TDS’ full-featured TV product called TDS TV+, and phone service. Commercial customers can also choose dedicated connections of up to 10 Gig with a service level agreement. The company also recently announced its intention to add a mobile phone service to its product mix soon.
“Beyond our network investment, we’re truly delighted to be creating family-sustaining jobs while also being a good corporate partner,” said Kreitzer. “We now have more than 30 associates who live and work in the Greater Chippewa Valley and, since we started this project, we’ve worked side-by-side with local organizations, supported community events, and given back through donations like the one we’re making today.”
At the official TDS Fiber-Fast Celebration TDS presented a $1,000 donation to the Family Support Center—echoing their initial 2022 kick-off event where the company also donated to the organization. The local non-profit assists survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, child abuse and human trafficking as well as provides violence prevention education
