TDS TV launches in 2 Minnesota communities
New London, Pequot Lakes and 14 surrounding communities now have access to the all-digital service
TDS Telecom (TDS®) has launched its all-digital TV service in two Minnesota communities and surrounding areas. Services were launched July 17 in Pequot Lakes and in mid-June in New London. Along with TDS TV, TDS will also be offering internet speeds of up to 100Mbps to some area residents.
“We’re delighted to bring these communities a new choice for TV service,” says Julie Maiers, vice president of Marketing and Product Development. “As a TDS customer myself, I know residents are going to love the advanced features and functionality as much as I do.”
The service features more than 260 all-digital channels (including HD), video-on-demand, pay-per-view, picture-in-picture channel surfing, and instant channel change. It also includes a Connected-Home DVR, which links all TVs together in a home giving full DVR functionality and programming access to each set-top box. Wireless set-top boxes are also available.
Up to 100Mbps internet service, which is double the previously available maximum speed, will be available to many area customers. “Whether customers want to stream, download, or do some online gaming, these speeds provide an improved online experience,” says Maiers.
The availability of both TV and faster internet is a result of upgrades and investments in the local network. TDS began construction in 2017, and started working with municipalities earlier this year to secure franchise agreements.
Already available in Monticello and Winsted, Minn., TDS TV has also launched in the New London area communities of Brooten, Kerkhoven, Murdock, Pennock, and Sunburg, and the Pequot Lakes area communities of Backus, Breezy Point, Hackensack, Jenkins, Pine River, and the townships of Birch Lake, Pelican Lake, and Woodrow.
