TDS TV introduces new radio-frequency remote control
Today, TDS Telecommunications (TDS®) is introducing a new remote upgrade option to all TDS TV® customers. The remote operates using radio-frequency (RF) and, once paired to a set-top box, allows customers to hide the set-top box out of sight and not lose any functionality.
Julie Maiers, Marketing Director at TDS said, “With the RF remotes, customers can conceal their set-top box in an entertainment center, a closet, or even in another room.”
The standard remote included with TDS TV operates using infra-red technology, which requires line-of-sight to work. Radio-frequency remotes do not have that same limitation and can work from any direction—even through walls—up to 150 feet away.
Maiers said, “First we introduced wireless set-top boxes so customers could move their gear without worrying about a cable jack. RF remotes are really the next step in a totally customized entertainment experience.”
Although it offers new functionality, the remote looks and operates very similar to the standard included model, making it easy to learn and use. Customers can upgrade to the RF remote for a one-time cost of $24.95.
The new remotes work only with TDS TV set-top boxes. Powered by Mediaroom®, TDS TV features more than 350 all-digital channels (including HD), video-on-demand and pay-per-view, picture-in-picture channel surfing, parental controls, and on-the-go viewing options with TDS TV Everywhere. TDS TV also includes a Connected-Home DVR which links all TVs together in a home allowing customers to:
• Record up to four shows at once, two of which can be HD;
• Connect up to 10 TVs to enable DVR functionality on all;
• Schedule and playback recordings on any connected TV; and
• Store up to 400 hours of programming (standard-definition).
Customers interested in ordering a remote can call 1-888-CALL-TDS.
