TDS Telecom and Nexstar Media Group settle programming dispute

TDS Telecom (TDS®), a subsidiary of Telephone and Data Systems (NYSE: TDS), and Nexstar Media Group Inc. today reached a comprehensive agreement to restore retransmission of Nexstar Media Group’s local television stations to more than 50,000 TDS customers in eight states.

On Dec. 31, 2018, TDS and Nexstar reached an impasse in contract negotiations prohibiting TDS from carrying Nexstar stations which, depending on market area, included:  ABC, CBS, and/or Fox programming, in addition to other channels.

“I would like to personally thank our customers for their patience and cooperation during the negotiations,” says Jim Butman, president and CEO TDS Telecom. “Because of their support we were able to come to a reasonable agreement with Nexstar.”

Terms of the agreement will not be released.
